At the beginning of 2025, the Baltic states successfully disconnected their power grids from the BRELL network and synchronized with Europe. To commemorate this historic event, the postal services of all three countries decided to release a special postage stamp on the same day. The challenge: to tell this important story through all three stamps simultaneously.
The idea is simple—symbolic synchronization. When placed next to each other, the stamps form a unified visual story. The design reimagines an electrical circuit diagram, replacing switches and resistors with symbols of a safer Baltic grid, along with essential human needs and the positive emotions this connection will provide.
The silver background symbolizes infrastructure and technology, while the blue color represents energy, security, and Europe. Additionally, under UV light, the diagram glows in a dynamic neon tone, adding another layer of symbolism to this historic event—one filled with vibrant energy. The first-day covers and the stamps on them also seamlessly connect into a synchronized circuit—just like the Baltic power grids with Europe.
An interesting experience—looks like I might be the first Latvian to have designed stamps for both Estonia and Lithuania. :)
Concept and design.
